The UNESCO World Heritage National Park Coiba and its adjacent Pacific coastline and islands is the crown jewel of Panama’s developping nature- and adventure tourism and a top choice for people seeking to live temporarily or permanently in a lush green environment on or close to the shores.
The main activities already offered and waitung to be developped are surfing, scuba diving, sport fishing, whale watching, kayaking, hiking, wildlife watching, or just enjoying a variety of beaches.
The political center of the area is the district capital of Soná, what can be reached from the province capital of Santiago in 45 minutes and the capital of Chiriqui province, David in about 2 hours. From there you can reach on a paved road Santa Catalilna – the center of tourism and hub to reach Coiba – in an hour and the soon to be developped fishing village Pixvae with its spectacular views of the islands and the ocean in an hour 1 1/2. The road has been repaired and prepared for pavement what shall be due in 2020.
