Diving Coiba: One of the Best-Kept Secrets in Central America
Serious Diving with sharks and big Fish in Coiba National Park, Panama
Coiba National Park is widely considered the best diving destination in Panama and one of the most exciting yet least-known dive regions in Central America.
Scuba Coiba has been diving Coiba since 2003. We were the first dive center in Santa Catalina, and for more than 20 years we have focused exclusively on high-quality, land-based scuba diving Coiba for certified and experienced divers.
Coiba is part of the Tropical Eastern Pacific, the same marine corridor as Galápagos, Cocos Island, and Malpelo — famous for diving with sharks, large schools of fish, mantas, and powerful oceanic conditions. The are is also known as “The Shark Triangle”.
Unlike those destinations, Coiba is accessible from land, allowing divers to experience big-animal Pacific diving without liveaboards.
What Is Diving Like in Coiba and Panama?
Diving in Panama — and especially diving Coiba — is Pacific diving, not Caribbean reef cruising.
Expect:
- Dynamic conditions
- Currents and blue water

This kind of diving rewards experience, patience, and multiple dive days.
It is not something to rush — and it is not the same every day.
