Most day-trippers visit accessible, protected spots within reach of Santa Catalina. But the real virgin dive areas lie at the northern Contreras Islands — seamounts exposed directly to open ocean with strong currents, swell, and wild conditions that demand respect.
These untouched dive sites are not for beginners. They require Advanced certification (30+ dives minimum) and Nitrox training is strongly recommended. But the reward for meeting these requirements is extraordinary: access to unexplored diving locations where marine life behaves naturally, predators hunt freely, and the ocean feels truly wild.
